Opinions on BlueStar Gas Range?

Main Post:

I have a Bertazzoni gas range and she’s beautiful but she has issues and I’ve had a really hard time finding people who will fix her and do it right. It’s breaking my heart but I think I have to let go and move on.

When I looked at ranges last year I got the feels for a BlueStar and reviews are good but I’m curious what everyone here thinks. Has anyone had trouble with theirs? Any repair folks here with stories to tell? I’m hoping to find a gas range that will be a work horse for a long time.

Top Comment: I’ve had a 30” BlueStar for about 12 years. It was a floor model so it had some issues but the seller took care of me. Nothing major, just stupid little things from being on a showroom floor for over a year. It’s the only brand on the market that runs like a commercial range. I’m not sure how I feel about the new sealed burners, I’ve never cooked on them. I have the older style cast iron burners and I absolutely LOVE them. I won’t spend my money on any other brand that’s currently available.

Never ever buy BlueStar products. They have hired the shittiest uneducated staff (literally a sweeper) and charging a bomb from us.

Main Post:

Short Story : Bought a 1 ton BlueStar Fixed Speed AC from their official website 2 years ago. It has given me unlimited problem. Worst part is, their senior technician is a degreeless person who is a sweeper in my adjacent building! He does jadu work in the campus and is that typical lowest if the lowest class fellow who are shameless and impossible to deal with. Blue Star is hiring such people and then charging us double and triple the service charges as if they have sent a genius engineer.

Full Story : AC stopped cooling in 13 months. Blue Star technician (the sweeper) filled Gas. It worked for a few days and again stopped cooling. After that he said coil is leaking, we have to replace. Charged 12k for it. Said AC is more than a year old so no warranty! We had no choice. We got it replaced. HE TOOK 25 DAYS AND A 100 PHONE CALLS AND 2 TIMES WENT TO THE ADJACENT BUILDING AND GAVE HIM POLIVE DHAMKI AFTER THAT HE BOUGHT THE NEW COIL. But then he forgot to get enough Gas! So filled less gas and AC was cooling but less and slow. He said he wil top up but he never came again and we were tired. He was a shameless fellow. Typical lowest class sweeper. We got gas toped up from urban clap. AC worked for about 40 days and then again stopped working! Blue Star said coil has leaked again and there is only 1 month warranty in coil and you have to replace again and again asked for 12k. I asked them to fu¢k off. I did talk with their senior staff who denied any responsibility and in the end of the call started talking like 'tumko jo karna hai karo humko koi farak nai padta'. Then I called some private technician who also works for UrbanClap (he had that uniform). He said coil needs to be welded and said 3k mein ho jayega including gas filling. He took 1 week and got it done. AC worked for like few days and then stopped cooling again plus water started leaking badly along with ice particles. The technician also started avoiding my calls. Used to give excuses. 1 week went that way. I said Im going to the police after whifh he came immediately. Then he said he thought welding we ho jaega but coil replace karnq padega and asked 7k. Finally I threw the AC in junk less than 2 years. 🥲 I dunno what crazy bad luck I was going through with this shitty AC!!

I even put AC leaking videos on blue star page on twitter along with how they are hiring totally sweepers as senior technicians but they didnt give a shit about it. Got a standard reply on twitter that we will escalate and then nothing as usual!

Can anyone recommend a good AC? My 12 year old Voltas AC in other room is working kickass but are current voltas as good cause Im just reading mixed reviews and Im traumatised after this Bluestar experience.

Ppl that buy HVAC products from manufacturers that also produce electronics and appliances, what could go wrong. ive never messed with any off brands.. ive only had to fix a couple mr. Cools and alot of fixes ive refused cause they werent install right. Ive installed alot of Daiken (company is a daiken dealer) some johnson controls. Its not even the equipment thats junk. Its the guy. You could have a used piece of boo boo. Have it cleaned flushed and evacuated right and itll last years. Stop gettin these "home depot" ahhhhh ppl to install your system. Buy the equipment and search a reputable company.. you cant cheap out on HVAC its gonna end up costing a lil money one way or another.

Bluestar - After my experience, I recommend you avoid

Main Post:

I copy and pasted someone else's title - because it seemed fitting.

I don't even know where to start at this point. It's been nearly 6 months and they still don't work or are still broken. I would like to start off by saying I bought all Bluestar - and wanted everything to match.

The freezer column and refrigerator doors arrived scratched, pinched, and cut on the inside. But that's not even the odd part of that. The doors are two different sizes and don't match each other.

They ordered two new doors, and said they would be shipped in three weeks. I still don't have them - I did get an email Monday saying they are still pushed back again.

The broiler arrived broken, not able to go up and down, and didn't get enough gas. It's only getting to about 400-600 degrees.

Tech 1 came out, toyed with it so it went up and down a little bit, and ordered parts.

Tech 1 missed his next appointment.

Tech 1 missed the next appointment again

Tech 2 - gets the parts from Tech 1 - comes out for the appointment - pokes around says he can't do anything with these parts and leaves.

BlueStar engineering department calls me and says It's more than likely working fine - nothing wrong - I just don't know how to cook food. It's hot enough - 600 is max.

Tech 3 - misses the appointment no call no show.

Tech 4 - misses the appointment no call no show.

I toy with it - I get it up to 900 degrees and prove its even more broken then they even thought. The knobs are all wrong. 30% is 100% gas - 100% is about 10% gas. 10% is also about 10% gas.

This whole thing sucks. I can't cook - I don't have a working kitchen. At this rate I don't think I ever will. They are out of techs to use.

I'm having some other issues I just don't even feel like sitting here trying to type anymore over this cluster.

If you see a BlueStar for sale, don't walk, run, run fast and far away from it. The sun will cook your food better.

Top Comment: I've had mine for 9ish months now, have had 0 issues and absolutely love it. Sometimes you just get a lemon, very unfortunate.

Bluestar is dangerous

Main Post:

I’ve had two gas leaks in as many years due to defective parts.

Customer service was helpful enough while it was in warranty. Of course, the moment it is out of warranty, you are on your own. For the price, there are far better ranges/ovens and warranties.

First it was a gas burner valve that had a cracked cast housing. This time it was a corroded flexible tubing that feeds the oven.

Customer support senior manager got very aggressive when I asked them to extend the warranty to cover a clear part quality issue. Of course I let them know I’d share my experience with Reddit and they retaliated by saying they’d never send parts under concession again.

Steer clear of Bluestar. RCS366BV2.

Top Comment: my bluestar has solid pipe. that flex pipe looks like something from your installer rather than part of the range.

Wolf or Bluestar range?

Main Post:

Deciding between wolf or blustar duel fuel 36inch 6 burner range. Unfortunately the way our kitchen is designed we cant do the bluestar cooktop then wolf wall oven which based on my research would be ideal. My wife is a baker so we have been leaning more towards wolf with the duel fans vs blustar with single but wondering if anyone has any real experience with either or both.

Top Comment: The bluestar dual fuel is only a year old so it is not “proven” in the market. Their gas ranges are great. The open burner technology too makes it really incredible. The wolf dual fuel is live in our showroom so we use it all the time. The simmering on the wolf is great and their ovens are now. The service network for wolf is most likely better, unless you in or close to a big city. Bluestar cooktop/rangetop is the winner in my book with the Wolf oven cavity having the clear advantage due to it being around longer. I always air on the side of caution so would suggest the wolf

Blue Star Ranges- Are they buy it for life?

Main Post:

Looking at a Blue Star RCS 36" open or sealed burner range. Does anyone have experience with this range or just the brand? Any opinions?

Top Comment: The open burner ones are about as close to BiFL as you can get with cooking appliances. You just gotta make sure that you have a nearby service/parts centre. Some bits may need replacing after a decade or so of use, but it truly is low maintenance.

BlueStar range: worth it?

Main Post:

I am in the early planning phase of a total kitchen remodel for my "dream kitchen" and have been leaning toward a BlueStar range (likely 48" RNB with French Top), but I have seen many people comment on poor performance with the ovens and generally bad customer service.

With that, I would really appreciate any input from those who currently have a BlueStar range, or had one previously.

  • Did you have any major issues that would make you reconsider buying one?
  • If you had issues, was it just the oven, or with the range top as well?
  • I've seen many comments on the oven door and range knobs getting incredibly hot while the oven is on, did you have this problem? We have children and pets, so this would be an issue.

Obviously these are not inexpensive ranges, so I'm trying to get as much feedback from people who have actually owned one before pulling the trigger. I'm drawn to the high burner output, low technology (I do not want a range with wifi), and the customization options with BlueStar, but open to recommendations on ranges with similar qualities. I would consider buying a range top and separate wall ovens of a different brand if the issues are primarily with the oven, especially as we do most of our cooking with burners and not the oven. All help is appreciated!

Side note: I've also looked at a Hestan range/rangetop, but have seen limited reviews on those. If you have input on a Hestan, please share!

We’ve been using our 30” Bluestar range for about a year and a half - probably not long enough to run into potential issues or problems. And we use the oven sparingly, as it’s just the two of us, we’re older and cooking less.

So far, I like it. Like you, I wanted something simple. I had no need for timers, digital temp settings, etc. I have experience working on vintage stoves, but real experience using more modern ranges.

I think I’ve heard about knobs getting hot, but that hasn’t been an issue for us. Some have complained about cleaning, but that has not been an issue either. The stovetop will heat up a bit when the oven is used - useful for warming plates.

One issue we had was having to adjust the burners lower than the factory setting. It was easy to do. We cook on lower heat, take our time, and use cookware appropriate to our cooking style.

The oven has been a small challenge: the temp is off on the low side, and it is not as easily adjusted. We have not had the retailer out, as we just adjust the temp a few degrees higher on the knob. The rack height options, while seemingly normal, are not as easy to adjust as I’d like, but then, I have certain physical limitations that make many things more difficult. The easy-slide-out rack (there is just the one of these) is great, but fussy if I need to change it, as I did at Thanksgiving, when I needed to fit more in the oven. As mentioned, this is more about my limitations than the stove’s.

We have not used the broiler, believe it or not. We just don’t cook as much as we used to.

The issues I’ve mentioned could be found on any range, I think. I wouldn’t say they are brand specific.

We thought we might get into wok cooking, which Bluestar ranges are said to excel at, but we haven’t.

These ranges put off a lot of heat. We went with a Bluestar hood that keeps things manageable.

Overall, this was a once in a lifetime splurge. I love knowing our Bluestar will handle anything we throw at it. We wanted a statement kitchen, even while remaining somewhat modest. We shopped around and went with Bluestar. As I mentioned, we’re older, but have had few ranges, ovens, stove tops in our life.

I hope this helps.
